God The Creator

“In the Beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” The opening line of the Bible is the most significant because it’s the answer to life’s greatest question: How did the world begin? God created. God did it all. When we step outside, breathe in the air, watch the sunrise, we are reminded of the opening line of Genesis 1:1. This verse paints a beautiful picture, showing us that God is mighty and powerful.

The Bible tells us that after God created the world, the earth was formless and empty. As a reader, we are able to imagine the world as a blank canvas and God being the master painter, speaking all things into existence. God speaks light, waters, land, vegetation, and animals into the world. With this he creates boundaries and shapes environments, so all life can flourish. As the verses unfolds, we witness creation step closer into completion and God calls it good. The scripture gives a clear picture that God made everything purposefully, lovingly, and thoughtfully. Everything God did was crafted with intention. He did nothing random or allowed things to happen by chance, but he masterfully created and designed all things with a purpose in mind. Moving into Chapter 2, the Bible provides a close-up deeper scope into his plan. Instead of God speaking galaxies into existence, we see God putting his hands in dirt forming humans from dust and breathing his own life into them. We are witnessing God, not distant, but up close and personal. God then plants a Garden in Eden, prepares a home, and places humanity right in the center of it. The Bible is showing us that God is a provider and he created humans in his image; not to wander aimlessly, but to live with purpose, to cultivate and thrive. After making the first human, Adam, he sees that man shouldn’t be alone, so he fashioned a companion. This is not a clone, or a servant but an equal, a partner. This woman literally shares the same breath of God and the same dignity of creation. God’s design for humans shows us that relationship is part of God’s plan and community has always been the intentions of God. The Lord God is the Creator, but the scripture reveals Him as more than a Creator. In the Genesis story, we witness God as: author, gardener and giver of life. The Lord makes all things and he delights in them. He built our world, saw it was good and blessed it. God didn’t just create humanity, but he built it, so he can commune with us. The opening pages of the Bible shows us the character of God. He is the God of order, beauty, generosity, and oneness. God desires to be close to us. We must remember that every breath we take was given to us by the one who breathed life into us from dust. Every new day is a reminder of God saying, “Let there be light.”

So always remember, that in our world we are seeing the handprints of God who designs everything with intention—including you.

and that is good.
